Words like Crazy, Shocking, Devastating, Discouraging, lede the headlines recently.
News is local.
But the Coronavirus Pandemic, (AKA: Covid-19, or SARS-CoV-2, or the Wuhan Flu), has caused the whole world to change, and brought us all closer by dealing with a common foe.
Oh, AND the Stock Market Crash/Impending Recession, Halving Oil Prices (I'm in Alberta, and Oil and Gas are our Main Industries).
It's like a 'Black Swan Trifecta' of worse case scenarios. The sky really seems to be falling. We are all at disparate stages in our lives. So these events will affect us all differently. We feel for the poor kid working at the Apple Genius Bar, who just got laid off for who knows how long.
Every news channel, every newcast, every radio show, podcasts, blogs, newspapers, appear exuberant in milking the bad news. Our politicians say they have our backs. They get it. (PM's wife got it, literally) They understand what this means for us Canadians. Just words without much action.
But you may want to refinance your mortgage and save a bit of dough.
Or experience Schadenfreude when you read about the Hand Sanitizer guy with Nowhere to sell the 17,700 bottles of hand sanitizer he stockpiled to take advantage of folks and profit from the health crisis.
So, wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds, hunker down, keep your distance from others, and be kind to each other. Put your headphones on, crank your favorite Stones record, and hope to see you on the other side!
